Financial Supports – Home Owners

The SERVE Project Residential Grant Schemes are available to Homeowners in the SERVE region.  Grants are available for Energy Efficiency Upgrades and Renewable Energy Measures.  The SERVE Grants are being provided in conjunction with support under the National Home Energy Saving Scheme and the National Greener Homes Scheme.  This means that increased levels of funding are available but people will be required to meet specific energy targets as part of the SERVE scheme.

Homeowners can apply to:

1.  Energy Efficiency and Renewable Grant Scheme – CLOSED

or

2.  Renewable Energy Grant Scheme – CLOSED

or

3.  Microgeneration Grant Scheme – OPEN UNTIL 27TH MAY

It is strongly advised that the house has reached a high level of energy efficiency before renewable energy measures are installed.  A high level of energy efficiency will result in lower heating and electricity bills and lower CO2 emissions.

SERVE Energy Efficiency and Renewable Grant Schemes

These grants are available for houses that were built pre 2006.  A BER (Building Energy Rating) will need to be completed before and after the works are carried out.  The SERVE Energy Efficiency Grant is made up of a payment of €1,000 for mandatory measures and additional payments for further energy efficiency and/or renewable measures.  All mandatory measures must be completed and at least 2 of the additional measures must be completed.  Homeowners are reminded that they can apply for grants towards upgrades and the BER under the Home Energy Saving scheme and towards the renewable measures under the Greener Homes Scheme being administerd by Sustainable Energy Authority of Ireland.

Where one of the mandatory measures has already been completed to the required standard (please note that this will have to be verified by your assessor) you can still apply to the Grant Scheme.  You will need to complete the 2 other mandatory measures plus a minimum of 2 additional measures.  In cases where only 2 mandatory measures need to be carried out grant aid for same will be €700.

Information Packs can be downloaded here or alternatively please call North Tipperary on 067 44671

Mandatory Measures –  All 3 measures must be carried out and the grant level is €1,000

Measure Standard Required
Attic Insulation – 2008 Building Regulations – U-Value of 0.16 W/m2 K (equivalent to 300mm of fibreglass) or as near as practicable
Wall Insulation – Cavity Fill- Internal

– External

– 2008 Building Regulations – U-Value of 0.27 W/m2 K or as near as practicableAn optimal whole element solution must be carried out.  This means that if you have more than one wall type, each wall type must be insulated.  Partial solutions are only acceptable in exceptional cases where it is not “physically or economically possible” to provide a whole – element solution

(Additional funding for external insulation is available if a lower U-Value is achieved.  See “Additional Measures” for details)

Heating Controls – 2 zones (space & water) with seven day programmer (time & temperature) control & boiler interlock – PLUS – Time & Temperature Control of electric immersion – PLUS- Either 1 more zone control or 3 Thermostatic Radiator Valves

Additional Measures: Both Energy Efficiency Measures (1-9) and Renewable Energy Measures (10-12) are grant aided as outlined below.  A minimum of 2 measures must be completed. Please note only 2 energy efficiency measures (1-9 inclusive) can be grant aided.
